About Me

Jennifer Hoffman

Therapist & Life Coach

Maybe you feel ready for change but don't know how to make it happen. Some feedback and support could make a difference. I'm ready to work hard if you are.

My Background

I became a therapist because I want everyone to have a place where they feel heard, seen, and validated. I know how important the right help is for our sense of belonging and acceptance. I added coaching to broaden the scope of my helping and empower more women.

I've also graduated from my own 'school of hard knocks.’ From trying to find ways to leave a bad relationship (or three or five…) to raising my son on my own and juggling 2-3 jobs, to healing my own trauma and shame, I believe that if I hadn't sought the support I did along the way- from coaches, therapists and spiritual advisors- the road would have been even tougher.

My role as therapist and coach isn't to tell you what's wrong with you. (You aren’t broken!) It's to make sure you know I see your struggle, I get what that emotional pain feels like too, and I am a willing companion, walking beside you, on this part of your journey. I’m here to help you find the skills, mindset, and ways of being that will make you your most amazing self.

I started out as a graphic designer and my projects in art school were always public health-related, but I ended up in a corporate job. After I realized I could die in my cubicle and no one would notice for days, I started feeding my soul through volunteer work with teens. One day, I decided this was more fulfilling and I started a journey of grad school and career change. My son was 5 when, as a single mom, I quit my job, took out loans, and attended Social Work school full time. I had one friend who supported this decision. Everyone else thought I was absolutely bonkers. That was 25 years ago.

I’ve pursued many certifications and trainings since: Martha Beck’s Life Coaching, Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) certification, Hypnotherapy certification, Cognitive Behavioral therapy, Internal Family Systems (IFS), Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction (MBSR) as well as Shamanism.

I also seek regular consultation from coaches and colleagues and attend trainings that keep me on top of the field.

My Purpose

Helping others is my purpose and I look forward to it each day. It's a far cry from that cubicle. Ultimately, I think the healing starts with the connection. So many of us feel misunderstood, invalidated, unappreciated. We have had experiences and people in our lives that made us believe we are never good enough, or normal or just okay. We get stuck in our heads and it can get dark in there. I'm here to listen to your story and be present for you, but also give you the skills and mindset to help you move forward with peace and confidence.

Being the Change

I love learning and I am always seeking more knowledge to help you. I am certified in EMDR and Hypnotherapy, trained by Martha Beck’s Life Coaching program, trained in Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy . I also invest in yearly trainings that will help me bring more to the 'practitioners table' and I seek my own awareness from the practice of meditation and studying Buddhism.

I have 16 years experience as a school social worker and 18 years in private practice.

I give back by volunteering once a month at a local food pantry, and also by donating monthly to Women for Women International — where I sponsor marginalized women in third world countries to create sustainable change for themselves and their families.

Lastly, but most importantly, I’m a mom of one adult son and bonus mom to four step children. Never a dull moment!

Work With Me for a Better Tomorrow and a Better You!

My professional experience coupled with my own life experiences gives me a high level of skill, wisdom, understanding, empathy and a genuine approachability. I believe in the freedom that comes from getting to know ourselves better, and the acceptance of ourselves that helps us to live more fully. Let's do this! Reach out today!

If I can do it, you can too!

Imagine what it would feel like if there were no more “What-ifs” holding you back. Imagine what it would feel like to double down on the investment in yourself versus sitting on the sidelines of social media or someone else’s idea of success. You can be the hero of your own story.

Sure, I’ve been tired. I’ve struggled with relationships, taking care of myself, prioritizing what truly matters. I’ve tried to accept my life in a Jack Nicholson “this is as good as it gets” mindset all the while knowing I was capable of doing and having better. You have that capability too. I know you keep going too even when you don’t believe in yourself or if it will all work out. Let’s figure this out together.

Enough is enough. Stop overthinking and start believing in yourself and your ability to find peace and balance in what matters most!
